Having trouble progressing in Russian.

I am trying hard to Russian I want to be able to learn it in a year or at least most of the language. What are some other ways to get going because really the only word I can remember is "Привет" which is Hello in English if you didn't know.

My advice is to have fun with it, keep learning ( pronunciation and stress on words are VITAL to learn btw. Example: "мать" and "мать" I was taught to ALWAYS make a really silent 'ch' sound after the word мать if I mean mother ) and find a Russian Language coursebook (You want to find one with the stress marks on words.)

But again, just have fun with it! :)
