That's how you say hello on the phone. Just like in Japanese, you say konnichiwa in person but say "moshi moshi?" on the phone

If you are saying hello in person it is 아녕하세요 but if you are on the phone with someone like on a call you say 여보세요

So this was one of the first things i learned in korean but to be sure isnt this "annyeong" a shorter less fornal version of "annyeonghaseo"
