Oggi è il mio primo anniversario!
Ho fatto queste lezioni, ogni giorno, per un anno adesso. Mentre il mio vocabolario è migliorata, ho ancora bisogno di molto più pratica.
(Today is my first anniversary! I have been doing these lessons, every day, for one year now. While my vocabulary has improved, I still need * a lot * more practice.)
364 days without stopping is fantastic! Good job! It looks like you are doing excellent (even though I can't read all your Italian yet)! Watch italian movies on YouTube, listen to italian songs, italian radio stations, and/or skype an Italian friend! Congratulations on this great accomplishment!
Were you like me, hoping to be able to read it all, then getting a little annoyed that you could not, but for what you could understand was proof of the studies working, thus the annoyance is then replaced by the need for more knowledge ? :D
YouTube rocks! I activate the subtitles. They're usually only in Italian, but it does help, especially as we progress and more words and phrases stick in our noggin :-)
That's pretty much it, exactly. I was ready to quit in frustration a couple of times, but it seemed like I was so close to figuring it out so I soldiered on. There are times when I get a really long sentence, to translate into English, and I nail it without using any hover hints, and it is SO satisfying!
Esattamente! I use the italian closed captions on YouTube and try to repeat the words as quick as I can (even though I don't understand it all)! It's very hard to be patient but I remember that learning a foreign language isn't easy!
I haven't looked on youtube yet-- what should I "search" there, to get some of these examples?
Ho due libri sottili, per la grammatica, ma io lavoro solo con Duolingo. Anche, uso "Google Translate" quando non sono certamente... Grazie!
YAY!! another italian sentence that I understood the whole thing and it's not a heavy on the similar to spanish words sentence like the last one! I'm feeling better that I'm picking up the italiano so quickly!!! I've been studying and learning spanish forever, but trying to get through the ladder to learn anything new I may pick up and refresh on mostly every thing else so I never feel very accomplished with the spanish, was only feeling good about my portuguese cause it's kinda semi new to me, but the italian i think i did some on here for 2 days and I could completely read your sentence so that makes me feel awesome and inspires me to learn much more italian!
Grazie Mabby! (and please tell me that is a child of yours in the picture and not you, or I'll be feeling like such a loser again!)
The picture is me, but it was taken when I was about 6 years old. That was more than 45 years ago.
ahhh I see, was thinking that you were awfully bright for a little kiddo! You would be some kinda genius or something! Not that you aren't now, but would have been just a tad more impressive if you were still that age! I cannot even figure out how to get a pic the right way up on, prolly this pos computer I have though!
REALLY???!!! you're at level 10, and I'm at 5 on italian, but I could totally read it, no problem! HMMMMM so weird!
omg I could read your entire sentence, YAY! only with the combination of beginning italian lessons and fluency---sort of--- in spanish and I think that sentence in particular looks a lot like spanish! But hey, thanks for posting, made me feel good :-)
No, but I can see the bottom from where I am.
The problem is that I have to keep going back to strengthen the old material and I can't seem to get back to the new stuff! It will take a 2 or 3 hour push, one day. I usually spend about an hour a day on here.
Compliments to you! Have you finished your ladder? Good luck with the other language!
Did I get at least most of that right? I try, looked fairly simple, so had to try!
I think the "to you" is implied only. Tree, not ladder, and languages, not language ;) Other than that, perfect :)
ok, thank you soooo much, that actually just made me click to a better understanding of plurals in italian, I hadn't noticed until now, but now that you corrected me, it brought to my attention that italian doesn't uses "s" to pluralize, but instead the ending is different and the "the" is a plural form, right? And could kick myself for missing albero as I did learn this one briefly the other day and it's so similar to arbol in spanish, should have seen that!
But I greatly appreciate the constructive criticism! I love it when I get corrected bc it brings to light things I hadn't seen before and things I forgot like arbero, I will remember better bc I missed it and was corrected on it, helps it to stick in my head better! grazie!
Yes, the plurals of masculine nouns end with "i", and the plurals of feminine nouns end with "e" (of course with some exceptions :).
i'm new.congrats. you're italian is amazing. i'm still trying to learn my "the's"
They will come, easily, soon.
If I could type without spelling mistakes I'd probably be done this program by now!
So what? Need translation on that one! Trying to sound it out loud and think if it sounds like something i know from spanish or portguese but drawing nothing outta this rotten brain of mine awww!
complimenti !! well done :-) your Italian is of good level now! Continua! :-)
Buon Lavoro! ma sei studi soltanto su duolingo o anche fuori ? Se leggi o conosci un libro interessante, fammi sapere perché lo sto cercando adesso per praticare :)
good evening!but i know you study only on your or until you go? if you read or know an interesting book,.... idk at all the rest Was I anywhere close?
Complimenti, Felicitazioni, & Congradulazioni!! Well, I got how to say congrats three ways in italian now, if I were sure about the pronunciations that is, but awesome!
Felicitaciones!!! And that's the third time I've wished you that! OMG I hate my internet, every time I try to wish you congrats the internet cuts out and erases my entire comment, ugh!!!!! That is extremely awesome and impressive that you have managed every day to work on your languages for a year!!! You must be one extraordinarily hard working, ambitious and way determined soul!!!! I, unfortunately cannot make it past 7-8 days consecutively before missing a day, or two, or few when I'm busy with other stuff, and then I forget sometimes for about a month at a time until I realize how much I miss working on my languages! You never get too tired or stressed with life and have to take a day off? Or your internet never goes out for a day? I hate Comcast ahhhh!!! HOW did you get through a year, I am desperate for pointers and advice from someone as accomplished and determined as you are!! (I don't think I've done anything every day for the last year, except probably urinate which that I have no choice in the matter (Of course this is coming from someone who has gone to 5 different colleges in 4 different cities in 2 different states and has changed majors like 5 times now in over, well this is really embarrassing, but yes, a decade and now isn't even going to school and doesn't know what to go to school for next, and yay, I've got 3 associate degrees, worthless pieces of paper those things are! Maybe I am just interested in too many things in this life and this world and probably the adhd doesn't help anything!) I hooked you up with a well deserved lingot and if you could hook me up with some profound advice or words of wisdom on how to make ones self do this everyday, I'll totally hook you up with a couple more!!
Your accomplishment is so incredibly impressive to me and gives me some hope and inspiration. Also makes me feel like a piece of poop, but I can only just work toward maybe moving up in the world to some healthy lawn fertilizer lol! At least I basically have no where to go but up. And now that I'm not in school at least for another semester I've discovered that there's a business I want to start and it would be my dream business and job at that! I want to get it started in the next couple of years and the more languages I have semi fluently under my belt, the more prosperous my ingenious business will become! My goal is to have 10 languages at least semi fluently acquired and only have 3 now, have begun one more and then have to even start the remaining 6!!! I LOVE learning languages and so I don't understand why it's sooooo difficult for me to make myself get on here everyday like you, it is obvious that it is possible to me now, you have made that completely apparent! Thank you for that! Or should I say grazie!!!!
