There still isn’t even a page devoted to it and it has been in progress for years. I’ve se n almost every language here be announced, developed, and released yet none have taken as long as Yiddish.

Nope. Progress is slightly slow, but come on, the incubator workers have lives outside of duolingo.

The only reason it doesn't have a course page is because they don't have a flag for Yiddish yet.

Yes, I’m well aware they have their own lives but i can still ask and make observations.

For a flag, I think they should make Jewish or Eastern European flag.

They already are using the Israeli flag for Hebrew.

Sure feels like it. Their status updates are few and far between. And the progress they promise never seems to materialize. If things really are going on behind the scenes please feel free to correct me.

It might be the longest any course has taken to reach 19% but Yiddish still has 133 days before it becomes the slowest course in Duolingo history to complete phase 1. And by then, the record might have moved even further as Yiddish is the fourth oldest course currently in phase 1.

More than two years ago. Yiddish entered the incubator before Hebrew.

And? That doesn't change anything I said. Yiddish also entered before Czech and Japanese but more than two months after Spanish for Italian. Yiddish entered 995 days ago, the record (held by English for Thai) is 1127 days, thus Yiddish won't be breaking any records in the next 132 days.

So?? I didn’t challenge anything you said. I’m just amazed how long this course has been in development (particularly in relationship to Hebrew), even if it officially hasn’t broken the record yet.

The Yiddish contributors do a lot offline when planning the course, of what have been mentioned earlier on the forum. As a flag I would like to see a flag of a Menorah, since the Hebrew course has the Israeli flag which has the Star of David.

I think the contributors asked Duolingo to design a flag featuring the golden peacock (di goldene pave).

Not all Yiddish speakers would be comfortable with a flag that features a religious symbol.

Not all English speakers are comfortable with the American flag as the English speaking flag. It's not possible to please everyone. The Menorah is not only religious but also cultural. It's the same thing as the Star of David on the Israeli flag. Even I have a Menorah at home. I'm not even Jewish. All Nordic countries have the cross on their flag. I can assure you that there are critical voices against them too.

I think only very, very few would have a problem with it since the vast majority are Jewish.
