Sound cuts out before end

This is on French. I'm not sure about other languages yet. On the spoken translations, the last word often cuts off. The slow option usually but not always works. It's very frustrating.

I'm not sure if this is an internet/computer issue or something on DuoLingo's end. Anyone else have this problem?

I have this problem across all Firefox Quantum v63, Edge v42, Chrome v71, and Internet Explorer v11. Of all of them i thought the old school Internet Explorer had the least problems.

Although I agree somewhat, network speed really shouldn't cause this problem. The site should never allow audio to be played that hasn't fully loaded into the browser. It's easy enough to put some sort of feedback to the user stating audio is loading, if that's the case. I've also noticed (as have others) that the audio 'degrades' if you leave the lesson open (while you're making a coffee :) ). This is prob an internal thing to the browser collecting what it thinks is unusued memory. Again - I'd be surprised if there's nothing a developer can do here

As I understand it, this problem arose during the website rewrite a few months ago, and Duolingo believe it to be fixed: "Known Bugs All known bugs have been fixed." [Source.] (Before August 22nd, they specified audio problems as one of the bugs they believed to be fixed.)

You should report it via their bug report page and specify which browser and language you were using.

If you don't object to using a different browser, you will probably find that the majority of other browsers are coded for correctly. Or, as a poor solution when considering learning a new language, it is possible in the options to set the "speaker" to "off" then click "Save changes" at the top of the screen.

As far as I know, the bug arises with many languages (but perhaps not all) on one browser. And the sentence discussion pages are unaffected (so far) because they still run the old code.

That's the same situation I'm in. The first time, the sound almost always cuts off, but if I replay it (fast or slow), it works.

Yep, I have this problem with all the languages, and if I try to get it to repeat, it still cuts out.

Currently doing this for Japanese. Can't vouch for others but I'm sure it's a site-wide thing. The mobile app doesn't seem to have this issue. The only time it doesn't get cut short on the site is when I can choose the option to play it slowly.

Yep I've had this problem too - just filed another bug report. I can't see it not being an issue with the site itself. It's only when using web and is pretty consistent across several languages I've tested. Is there no centralized place you can view bugs being looked at in upcoming releases? I can't understand how this isn't being looked at as a priority - it really slows you down. Guess it's a testament to the rest of the site that I'm still an avid user, but if I were to star rate it atm it would get 4 - fix the sound and it's a 5 no question :)

This problem is getting more serious for me. Initially it was just the end of the last work that would be "lost". Then it seemed to be consistently the whole of the last work or two. Now, today, it didn't play at all for one execise. I've tried using different browsers but the problem seems to occur in them all.

For the Italian tree, the audio cuts off frequently before the end of the sentence in the FireFox Quantum 68.0.1 browser for me, but only in full-speed mode. If I play it slowly, I get the full sentence. I also hear clicks and pops at the end of a sentence. This doesn't happen in the Google Chrome browser (Build 75.0.3770.142)

I too have this issue. Thought initially that it was my wireless earbuds but it happens without them as well. Annoying, especially since I try to just use audio and not look at the written sentences.

I have this problem with every language. If I click for the audio to play again it plays correctly, but like 99% of the time, the first time the audio plays it cuts off the last part of the sentence. I can work around it by clicking on the repeat button, but it's still very annoying.

I reported this bug for the second time. Safari/Chrome/iOS...not of it works first time around.

PS - I get the feeling their bug report system has a "bug", too. Once submitted, there's no "thank you for your submission" message. It just brings you back to the FAQ.

I’ve had serious problems with sound going completely which affects all sound on iPad ; i’ve Had 2 replacements and each time sound goes. now i have to use alternative computer for Duolingo as something must be destroying sound completely. Anyone else had this problem? Apple coudn’t figure it out.
