I didn't expected to find something that would be related to what I'm writing for my Master's essay on Duolingo. It's about the soul. In Kabbalistic sources there are five levels of the soul. They are following: Nefesh, Ruach, Neshamah, Chayah and Yechidah. Only the first three of them are currently available for us humans. Nefesh is the basic soul for all living beings. Ruach is a higher level. Ruach is mentioned first time in Genesis when a spirit is traveling around the world after the Creation was done. Ruach can mean both spirit and wind. Most translations I'm aware of have translated it to spirit, except the Swedish translation of Bibel2000 which has translated it to a God's wind. Lipnick is right about the Neshamah.
