What are some French and/or Russian abbreviations?

Hi. I am curious about the question above. But I have another question to go along with this. How ..strong.. are they? Like when you say lol you find something a little funny. Maybe a half smile. Lol isnt that strong. What abbreviations exist and when can i properly use them?

I haven't seen any French Abbreviations. If there are any at all, I don't think there are many.
