Timed practice in Japanese too hard?

I was wondering, does anyone else think that the timed practice in the web version of the Japanese course don't give you enough time?

In other languages I can get through most timed practices, but for Japanese I don't think I was able to finish a single one.

Personally I don't think it's too hard (at least until the level where I am), but you're not the only one thinking it is: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/25166650

Key things are having some quick way of changing IME's (I have a keyboard shortcut to switch to and from Japanese typing) and practice! In the beginning all timed practices are hard (also other languages imo) but as you gain more understanding (and in the case of Japanese recognise the characters better) you'll gain speed. and finally be able to finish the practice. But finishing is not required! Who cares if you get only 14 or 7 right instead of 20? Just do it again! And again! You'll get there =)

PS. You might want to edit your post and move it to the Japanese board =)

For an even quicker way to switch between English and Japanese typing, people might be interested in trying out my userscript that does it for you automatically! ^^

Interesting, I did a search before posting, but couldn't find the thread you mentioned. Thanks for your input! I guess I'll keep practicing then
