For us westerners the emphasis on older/younger made me think if there is any generic brother/sister or brothers/sisters in Chinese. I found the following page:
Quoting from the summary post on that page:
Can be used to refer single / multiple siblings:
older brother(s) = 哥哥
younger brother(s) = 弟弟
older sister(s) = 姐姐
younger sister(s) = 妹妹
Seldom used to refer to a single sibling:
brothers = 兄弟
sisters = 姐妹
brothers & sisters = 兄弟姐妹

There is not exactly a generic brother in Chinese. It is either older brother or younger brother. They have different words for each. See my post above:
