Learning Chinese

Hello! I have been in the beta program for Chinese since it came out. I have been doing a little bit almost every day but am stuck. What do you do to remember the sounds and characters? I am really struggling.

Take it slowly. Keep doing a little bit every day. Repeat out loud every sound you hear - and say each answer out loud before you click on it. When you are learning new lessons, if it feels difficult, and the new words just aren't going in - take a step back, stop learning new lessons, and spend more time strengthening old lessons instead. Keep all the skills in the tree gold at full strength. It will come. Chinese is not an easy language, and it will take perseverance, but it will come.

You have picked a challenging language to learn. pippipippip gave you good advice. Take your time. Repeat the lessons until you can recognize the characters and know the tones that go with each one. This is important because the pinyin of a Chinese word can represent many different characters. The tones are equally important because they too change the meanings and characters of words. Here's a translation site that might come in handy sometimes: http://translation2.paralink.com/Swedish-English-Translator
Have fun. Be patient with yourself.

Pinyin only please!

That won't quite work as a word written in pinyin may be represented by more than just one character, with each character having its own meaning. Apparently, "shi" can be represented by more than 100 characters.
