"Only a cold apartment is waiting for him."

Translation:Čeká na něho jen studený byt.

November 24, 2017

I wrote "Jen studený byt čeká na něho".DUO considered it a mistake and and gave two options of correct answers: "Jen studený byt na něj čeká. Čeká na něho jen studený byt." Someone please tell me what's wrong in my answer!!! Thank you in advance.

Czech people do not say Jen studený byt čeká na něho. It is not sound czech. You mistake was word order (slovosled). But for me is sound wrong Jen studený byt na něj čeká. I am czech and this sentence sound me strangly.

I don't know how to explain it but the word order is wrong and the sentence sounds unnaturally.

Would it still be strange, even though a warm apartment is waiting for everyone else of the group? How would you emphasize that? Thx

"studený byt jen čeká na něho." is also wrong. : (

As well as "jen čeka na něho studený byt." that's poor : (
