Gems... waste of time and effort (connection issues)

This afternoon (approximately 2-3 minutes ago) I attempted to spend 200 gems on master a unit. However, my iPhone failed to connect to the internet and proceeded to show me an error message saying so...

I was therefore returned back to the tree page... now 200 gems down, even though I was not connected to the lesson.

I'm sorry Duolingo but for the money you are charging people for these gems you need to fix this connection issue, otherwise it's just a massive money-spinning con. People are spending 200 gems on master a unit and then being disconnected from the lesson before it begins / losing the 200 gems at the same time, before the lesson even begins is a complete joke.

PLEASE FIX THIS

Buenas Tardes.

Jay.

Duolingo doesn't have customer service, but you could try reporting a bug: https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/204728264-How-do-I-report-a-bug-

Interesting. Given how often people make posts about having issues with the app or the website, it seems to me that they badly need to get some customer service - they need more than the stereotypical anti-social programmer type. It's an old canard of mine, but I've always been amazed at just how incompetent Pittsburgh is when it comes to working with its user base.

I would agree with this. Once you start taking people’s money, you need both clear policy on refunds and a basic customer service number/e-mail/contact for complaint resolution. Otherwise the only access people have to resolving such issues is to dispute a charge on their CC. That’s annoying and burdensome, and could (?) block the CC company from allowing future charges to DL.

All these billing complaints posted daily on the boards make it very unlikely that I (or others of my skeptical frame of mind) will ever spend money on DL. It’s a marketing and publicity black eye for the company encouraged, by lack of other customer service avenues, to happen over and over again.

I recognize of course that the moderators have zero control or input over this. It’s a corporate issue.

I may be a little skeptical but I don't think a bug report will get their attention. There has been post after post about this issue and nothing seems to be being done about it (streak buy back option, gems etc etc). DL needs to be careful, taking users money whilst having no customer service option is a dangerous strategy... especially when there are so many issues at the moment. I love DL and have done for quite a while now, however, I can't see myself spending any money on it at the moment. What's the point? It honestly feels like I'm being robbed...

Amazing isn't it... and that was posted one month ago too! I hope they sort this problem out soon, otherwise DL may find users going elsewhere.
