Lost EVERYTHING!

I have been doing this app every day for about a year now. A few months ago it said I was late because I did my lessons at a couple minutes to midnight. I accepted that I lost my status and started my days and coin collecting all over. However, tonight when I went to do my daily lessons it wanted me to login. I didn’t remember my password so I reset it. But now it shows me with no lessons started and all my gems gone. I had thousands. I added the Chinese to start and am excited to retrain myself in that and continue with French. But find it super disheartening that I am now starting back at nothing. No coins, no time saved. Like I said I’ve been doing this close to a year now.

That is not weird at all. It would have been weird if the account was created 4 weeks ago.

Not at all. That is very usual. Because there are many people who make a new account by mistake, by clicking on "Get started" instead of "I already have an account"

Gems / IOS app:

Login: You need to login / with a click-through with the "Clubs" tab, as the IOS app, as it was explained here multiple times in threads has no "Login button/field" at the startup screen.

You are probably not logged in with this account.

There have been other people explaining it step by step....I can't.

No, I am not using the IOS Iphone app and Android does not have the issues ;)

Q: What happend after the password reset for your account?

I have not found any other registered user with your fullame on the web dashboard, so somehow you must have reset your course / language trees ....as you are only level 6 in French :(

Q: Had you completed your French tree? What level had you got? What streak?

Q: Are you 100% sure that you had not used a different / 2nd account with a different naming or set fullname??

This account "heidi.cond" has not been used a long long time, or it may be corrupted.


Account corruption:

Only a backup restore on the DuoLingo might help you for this user account (if it is damaged), but I never have heard that DuoLingo staff/admins (if there is any 2nd/3rd level technical support at all) have the time and the tools to support a manual backup user schema/course DB and could manually restore your French progress from 24-48h ago (if corrupted, level 25, etc.).


Suggestion:

  • Try to find a different user account in you e-mail postbox (regular weekly e-mails, etc.)

  • Use the intro comprehension test (if you have reset and restart at level 1) where you might pass to levels 9 (this was yesterday the case for Spanish) or a little bit higher and where you can easily pass 3 checkpoints + 3 three more skills.

  • On English courses, where I also used the "test out" options I did the rest with "Checkpoint test-outs" and skill test outs.

  • Maybe you have just used a different e-mail address for your 2nd account, and now you are trying to login with the wrong e-mail and 4 years old 1st account???
