No, I do like Hanja, and try to incorporate as many as I can in my Korean study. What I meant was that you don't need to know Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) just to know Hanja, they're two different things and knowing Hanja doesn't mean you could speak fluently in Chinese either. I was just trying to stress how easy it really is for anyone to start using Hanja, without having to learn a whole another language like Chinese.
