This is actually the Palouse in northwest US, where I am now :) Grassland to me is more like prairie in the middle region of the US, where there is a lot more grass. In the Palouse we generally have crops, not grass

"Palouse" [팔루스] is a large area consisting of 초원 or 풀밭(meadows/prairies); 습지 (wetland); 임지 (forestland)...

As you said, parts of the Palouse are now used as agricultural lands/farmlands. And we have also lost some parts to urbanization.

To avoid further degradation of the land, some parts are now protected areas.
