Tortue Marine should be Sea Turtle, since 'marine' means 'sea' (same in English).

Tortue can also translate into Turtle, no?

Maybe you could explain the articles that go with each animal. Ex: Poisson= le Poisson

One small thing: 'une langouste' is a spiny (palinurid) lobster, whereas your silhouette shows a clawed lobster ('un homard').

It looks like when you have two words you are listing the masculine first, feminine second. But why are there two words for owl?

    November 30, 2017

    https://www.duolingo.com/garpike

I believe 'un hibou' refers to an owl with ear tufts, whereas 'une chouette' is a crestless owl. A lot of languages seem to make the same distinction.

In spanish, we know two animals: "Búho" and "Lechuza". I did it first in French-Spanish, so when I translated it in english... There isn't a different word for every one!

    • Búho: http://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=b%C3%BAho

    Lechuza: http://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=lechuza
