What to do If i wanted my language to be a part of duolingo. (Kashmiri)
So because of terrorism and cross culture marriages(this is inevitable) our language (Kashmiri) is sort off dwindling away and sooner than later it will cease to exist. Only the modified form of the original Kashmiri language will remain (which uses lots of urdu words , which is not the case in original Kashmiri language). I am Kashmiri Pandit, so i know what i am taking about.(have been in kashmir for generations untill in 1990s were forced out due to terrorism)
So my question is how can i add this language in doulingo so that everybody in the world can learn this. And well more importantly its on the internet: meaning if people remain or not the language will, which is my main selfish objective.
The language i am talking about is from a state In INDIA (Jammu & Kashmir) in which Kashmir being given the name " Heaven on earth" But due to terrorism it has become a place less visited nowadays.
Hi, I've added your request to the [GUIDE] I would like a new course: What should I do? post. If you have email notifications enabled, prepare for some traffic ;-)
You can add your request to a list of requested languages (not sure where this post is but I am sure someone will point you in the right direction). Also you can apply to be a volunteer on the course team if it ever reaches the incubator. Of course there is no guarantee that you or the course will be selected but don’t get dishearted about that. It’s just the way Duo works.
As a language enthusiast, I'd love to have Kashmiri on Duolingo. Considering how beautiful Kashmir is, I'd love to learn about its culture and past. Learning Kashmiri will help a lot with that.
OMG! I'm a Kashmiri Pandit as well! We're so rare haha! I speak fluent Kashmiri but it saddens me to see the language dying out as well. Even in Kashmir, mostly Urdu is spoken, so I totally get it :) I 100% agree, although it seems impossible because our written script is outdated and its such a complex and difficult language, and there's so many other more popular languages that Duolingo is still working on :(
Would love to learn Kashmiri. It's a beautiful language, just like the people and place!
