Sein or Er

I have been told that er can mean He and His but recently Iv'e been getting incorrections and saying it's sein instead. Is it because the noun is actually stated in the sentence?

Er = He. Sein = His. I've never seen any text using Er for His.

No, "er" and "sein" are different words. It works in the same way than in English. Er ist groß. He is tall. Sein Fuß ist groß. His foot is large. ich / mein du / dein sie / ihr wir / unser ihr / euer
