"Shade" is better than "shadow" in this context

Which is 그늘

Toni8295554, grandmother may be a person who does not want to be the center of attention. She may want to sit in the shadows and not be noticed or bothered by others.

The korean sentence is reallt awkward and weird

The English is awkward too

How would you say it more naturally?

I think "Mom wants to sit in the SHADE" would be a much better alternative. So: "엄마가 그늘에 앉고 싶어해요"

Well, I have a different idea. As soon as I saw the sentence, I thought "how poetic it is."

Is “ Mom wants to sit in the shade.” correct?

그림자에 앉다 = sit in the shadow (sit on the dark area on the ground which is created by a body blocking the source of light.)

그늘에 앉다 = sit in the shade (sit where one is sheltered from direct sunlight)

This means you can be sitting in a shadow without being in the shade; but the reverse is not true.
