Is "buy groceries" a correct translation for "boodschappen doen"? My dictionary (also) translates this as "to go shopping", but in that case there doesn't seem to be any grocery-context.

Would 'Ik moet vandaag veel boodschappen kopen.' be an acceptable translation? And if 'boodschappen kopen' is usable in Dutch, is there a difference in meaning between that and 'boodschappen doen'?
