Dicas básicas para verbos terminados em -ED

Assim como no português, as letras do alfabeto inglês podem ser divididas em vogais e consoantes.

p q, r, s, t, v, w, x, y, z

Saber a diferença entre vogais e consoantes pode ajudar na hora de escrever verbos no past simple e no past participle (terminados em -ed). Na tabela abaixo, repare o seguinte:

  • Quando o verbo termina em consoante + vogal + consoante, duplicamos a última letra.

  • Não duplicamos a última letra quando o verbo termina em -x, -w, ou -y.

Para palavras que terminam em consoante + e, basta acrescentar -d.

Para palavras que terminam em consoante + y, removemos o -y e acrescentamos -ied.
