Lost streak...?

Hi.

I have been on Duo with a streak for the past 565+ days. But today when I logged in, I had only a 3-day streak! I thought that after doing today's goal I will get it back, but, to my horror, it just notched up to 4. After that, I went to the Shop and noticed that the Streak Freeze option was available to buy. But I am always equipped with it and I had definitely practiced yesterday, so how come it was used? I switched to another PC but found that, in front of my eyes, 552 went to 4 when I opened the web-page. (It might have shown 552 and not 560+ as that was when I had last opened Duo on that laptop). Though last week, I did get a notification awarding me 56 lingots for a 560-day streak.

I also find it a bit odd that the streak started from 3. I remember other heartbeat-skipping times I saw my streak as 0 or 1, but as the webpage finished loading, it goes back to the normal streak. This time that didn't happen. I love Duo and I understand some glitches can come up. What can I do to fix this?

The fact that your streak was 3 suggests that you lost your streak 3 days earlier so your streak freeze had probably been used before then. It is always a good idea to check the store each day to make sure the freeze is still activated.

I do check the store everyday - it's a habit. Your idea is plausible for the internal working of the program - but what was displayed on the counter for 3 days should have also changed, right? Not 565+ even if I had lost the streak. That again goes to show that this could be a technical problem.

I am so very sorry you lost your streak!

Are you completely sure you got up to your daily goal, or still had a streak freeze? Sometimes I forget to repurchase streak freezes after I miss a day, but seeing as you had a 565+ streak I would think you would've remembered.

Hopefully Duolingo can help you with this problem, but keep your head up high! I bet you'll be able to get it back :)

I have a similar problem I lost my fifty something day streak and on top of that I often received notifications that I lost my wage. I got the same six notifications in the last minute

Hi Fauzan,

one of the members in the club I'm part of had a very similar problem, they kept buying a streak freeze every day, and every day it would be "used" even if they did more than one lesson per day (their daily goal is set to only 10XPs per day, and it's always been that way). The only solution was switching to the desktop version.

And I haven't been able to post comments from the app for a few months now, which I find extremely annoying.

I hope they'll solve these problems soon.
