What's your occupation?

Hello everyone!! Tell me in the comments, what's your occupation? Write in the language you are learning what's your occupation? I feel that this dicussion is a great way to get to know each other. This what I do for a living:

My name is Samuel and I am a professional guitar player!

I have a family hard rock/heavy metal band with my sibilings and we are called, "Liliac". I am the lead guitarist in the band. I would like to share a video of our band. This is our Cover Music Video of Enter Sandman by Metallica, here is the link: https://youtu.be/INouvLl1JiQ

And that's is my occupation! Even though there are many of us here who have different professions we all have one thing in common. And that is, the desire to learn languages! Thanks.

Samuel, I wish you well, and appreciate your past efforts as a member of the DL comunity. However, there is a good chance you will be hearing from a moderator on this one, as it seems your post is basically a promotion of your band, which really isn´t appropriate in this forum. Glad to hear you are able to make music with your family and encourage you to branch out into what I peronally feel are more uplifting or melodic genres.

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to break any rules I just simply wanted to show you guys what I do for a living. If it does any harm I can take it off if you'd like?

Most of us are not really fond of rules, but without them the world would be even more chaotic than it is, and DL discussions might degenerate into something too frustrating to use because of excess posts that have nothing to do with learning languages. Thanks for the apology, and once again, Best wishes for your languages and your music.

I agree, it also is against the rules to post your age. However, I think this is really cool, I myself don't have a job for many reasons but I have been looking for one recently.

I don't really know what the title of my occupation is, but I work in a bakery xD

It's really nice because I always eat cookies and donuts while I'm at work, and I get to take home donuts every time I work :3

IMHO, Samuel, you’ve contributed enough to the Duolingo forums to be entitled to a bit of self-promotion. :-)

I’m a lawyer, and most of my practice is tax litigation (meaning I represent individuals and businesses in court who have disputes with the government about how much tax they owe).

DaveRutan, I really appreciate that you listed "stay at home dad" as an occupation. It's a lot of work to be a parent! I feel that stay at home parents have a bad rap. It is seen as not having a job and because of that low status to some folks. Sadly, there is a lot of pressure for all parents to work outside of the home these days because for many people, they can't afford not to. But, I think stay at home parents are pretty fantastic because it really is a lot of work and it can be really important work too. ^_^

Awesome! I'm a professional... [insert drum roll here] student (not even in college yet though)! I play violin, though, and I'm also horrible in social situations, a runner, and a severe 2000's emo music addict. I want to do something related to languages as a job in the future. Good luck with your band! I can't wait to listen to your album when it comes out!

I'm in sales, a former school teacher. I'm the last person on Earth who refuses to play a musical instrument. Currently I'm trying my hand at the DELE. Wish me luck! Thanks for this post. Against the rules or not, it's a good bit of fun.

PS - Good luck with the band.

Learning other languages is a really good idea for musicians, have you thought about learning Chinese or Korean? I know China pays westren looking people to just pretend to play the guitar, there is a market there for an entrepreneur.

I would 100% learn Chinese and Korean if in your shoes, heck learn how to play some local music on the guitar bet there is a solid market for that. Consumption of western music and look is large there right now and is unlikely to change anytime soon.

I'm a robotics/automation Engineer, a professional nerd I guess. Love my field of work very rewarding with an huge demand that has no end in sight. Also I took the bold entrepreneur path, I'm independent making about 30-40% more then others in my field that went the 'comfortable' and 'stable' route.

Be bold if you are doing exactly what others are doing... you're doing it wrong.

My profession is being an older sister to four kids :P I also play guitar as well as ukulele and I'm "learning" violin and piano. I had a dream of becoming a recording artist because I love music and I wanted to do what I love for a living but I've put that dream on the back-burner for now. I would also love to be a published author, which is what I am currently working on pursuing. :)

That is so neat! Good luck to you and your family :)

I don't have a job right now, but am hoping to be a barista next year. I think later it would be fun to get a job that has to do with languages or animals.
