Qui ou que?

Bonjour! Je ne sais pas quand utiliser qui ou que. Aidez-moi s'il vous plaît! Je sais seulement que 'qui' est pour le sujet et 'que' est pour l'objet direct. Y a-t-il des exceptions? Merci en avance!

This is the whole point really and you already know it! :)
Are you aware of the Tips and notes section under the lessons (available only on the full website, not the app)? it is also explained there, but any search for "qui or que" will give plenty of material to read. For example, you can see the explanation and the examples here: http://laits.utexas.edu/tex/gr/pror1.html.

I thought there was more to it than that! I guess I'm too used to things being more complicated! I didn't know there was a notes section. I'll have to remember to look at that. Thank you!

Qui is before a verb (qui mange..) even if there is the indirect pronoun in front of it (qui le mange...)

Que is not before a verb (que je..).

Or at least, that's how I was taught.
