Finishing the Spanish skill tree?
I am half way through Level 11 in Spanish but I am not being offered any new exercises. I instead have a message saying 'well done for conquering the skills tree' and suggesting I redo some exercises to practise. Have I come to the end of what is free on Duolingo?
You have finished the tree but hang on. A new version of the tree will be released into beta quite soon (it was announced this morning that has just entered alpha tesring). So you will get new and extra lessons soon.
But I'm only on level 11 and I can see from your profile, for instance, that you are on level 14 so the levels must exist already surely? I am a bit of a luddite so may be misunderstanding something basic.
Levels are only connected to the XP points you earn: http://duolingo.wikia.com/wiki/Xp. They have nothing to do with the progress through the lessons- you could be doing the same lesson again and again... If you check your profile https://www.duolingo.com/Caroline778088 you will see that you need another 620XP to reach level 12. If you have finished the skills tree, then the only way to go up is by revising and gaining more XP points.
Ah, I see! Thanks very much for taking the time to explain. That all makes sense now.
effectively with level 11 you finish the Spanish tree(the most of trees actually), but you always can keep practising, for example I would perfect have finished with level 14 my German tree, but I have been trying to keep it gold so I am halfway yet.
I am level 25 and 65% it is only by continuous practice that you move up the levels. It seems 25 is the highest but as to % I don't know I've been on 65% for ages. I repeat, do speed practice and random practice all the time. I'm 175 days in too, with no day off. Keep with it. You will keep getting better. Just like children we will learn by repetition.
