1000 Days Streak
It seems like just yesterday that I had stumbled upon Duolingo. It was while waiting for my flight to take-off for Paris that I searched for an app which could teach me a few basic French words. One of the apps which immediately caught my attention was Duolingo and while I could not really utilise it during that visit, after coming back, I was literally hooked onto it.
The ease of use, the game like interface, the amazing discussion forums, the helpful moderators, and of-course the streak are great motivators.
I finished my Spanish Tree sometime back and am close to finishing my French Tree and am quite happy with my progress. I can have a basic conversation in French and Spanish and can hold my own for some time. I plan to take my French Certification exam (DELF) in the New Year to formalise what I have learnt on this wonderful platform.
In addition I have learnt German, Italian and Swedish off and on.
I now listen to songs in French, Spanish and German and enjoy them even with my basic understanding. It truly gives a new insight into different cultures.
As I complete a 1000 day streak today, I feel enriched and happy for using Duolingo and being a part of this wonderful community.
A Big Thank You!!
Duolingo Rocks. Take Care and Happy Learning!
Best regards Sandeep
Thanks a lot Fauzan836172. Great to know that you are also planning on the DELF/DALF exams. I am planning to give A1 level initially so as to get some confidence then attempt the other levels. I understand that the listening part requires the most practice. Which level are you planning. All the best.
Thank you. Yes, there are many sites for exam preparation, though I am yet to try them. You can view the sample papers at: http://www.delfdalf.fr/delf-a1-sample-papers.html The sample papers give a good idea of what to expect in the exam and can help streamline one's effort. The listening comprehension part is expected to be the most challenging. All the best.
Hi Rebecca. Thanks for your kind words. Great to know that you want to be an interpreter. Level 8 is a good level. One can finish the Tree around Level 12. Duolingo learning can also be complemented with other free resources such as “Memrise” and “LingQ” on the web/app. And for the streak, the “Streak Freeze” in Duolingo shop helps to retain the streak for one day at a time. Wish you all the best in your language learning and Travel pursuits!
