Why not

Why "deutsch lernen" instead of "lernen deutsch"?

This is not English so they do not follow English grammar rules. When you learn a new language it isn't just vocabulary and conjugation, but sentence structure as well. It takes some getting used to, but you'll get it!

Hello Uknown, Why ...? I will try to explain for you : here come some examples:

Wir (User) wollen oder müssen ...deutsch lernen Ich werde deutsch lernen ... Deutsch lernen ...ist nicht einfach. But: Wir lernen deutsch .... Er / sie - lernt deutsch. ich lerne deutsch , du lernst auch deutsch... That's what you have to exercise, when you want to learn German. Good luck, perhaps there are some more Users to explain you the Grammer rules ?

Hi TheUknown, the word order is more flexible in German. Please have a look at this website, which explains the rules: https://easy-deutsch.de/satzbau/
