there's a lingot-eating dragon on the lose again!
This is making me crazy. The lingot counter goes up and down with no sense of mathematics. The lingot dragon is on the prowl!
For example: I want to add 5 lingots to someone's comment. The more I add, the more the lingot counter takes out of my lingot account, and this is counted correctly.
However, for every lingot I add the comment displays 1 lingot, then 2, then back to 1, then 3, then 1, then 0. I refresh in between, and that doesn't help either. In total I had to donate 12 lingots to finally be able to see 5 lingots posted to the comment. Does that suck? Yes it does!
I say, watch out for the lingot-eating dragon that is hiding in the duolingo-code forest. It is hungry and very crafty.
I gave a user five lingots an hour or two ago and it displayed as 1, so I kept at it and could never get it above four; at length it reverted to one again and I gave up (I was probably about 20 lingots down by then). Considering that expressing approval of forum posts is one of the few uses of lingots, I do wish DL would sort out this simple problem.
Haha... Yeah, I've had a few weird experiences recently. Not just with lingots... I earned the achievement wildfire (maintain a streak for 7 days) and I am only at 4!!! Also you see next to my languages streak 7, but in the corner of my page it says 4. I also just lost 2 lingots, then earned 3. Strange...
do you mean the number that shows your streak? I see you have an 8 day streak next to your flags.
All right: I have it! The secret to this is pretending to be a French lorry-driver (or insert your preferred, stereotypical, slow, lazy person here) between each lingot. Leave about five seconds between each and the total will increase; attempt greater efficiency and the dragon will end up eating everything bar one.
oh man! is this the key I have been looking for? Thanks! A lorry driver stuck in traffic, advancing a little bit at a time... 5 seconds wait time sounds doable. How on earth did you figure this out garpike?
