My suggestions for Duo
I don't know how can I send suggetions, therefore I will post here. If anybody knows how can I do that, please say it on comments bellow :)
English is not my native language, so I'm sorry about the mistakes and feel free to correct me! :D
Oh, one more thing: If one of the suggetions already exists, I'm sorry. I really tried to search a lot before posting this.
- Clubs on web
I love clubs on app. In my opinion, they are a good way to incentivate people learning. For this reason, I think it would be nice if there were clubs also on Duo web.
- Chat box
In some topics, people start talking on comments. I know that to learn a language, practice is very important, but come on... it's not a chat box.... So, I think it would be awesome if there were a chat box here. People could practice their target language without bothering other people (I don't get bothered at all, but some people do).
- More caracteres on bio
I think it would be interesting if there were the possibility to write more in our profile description. I know that you can't write your entire life on it and I don't wnat to do it, but I think it can be nice to write a bit more about yourself and your another accounts on web.
- Labs and discussion on app
Duo application is a bit poor of content comparing it to the Duo web (excepting the clubs, they are amazing!). So, please, add the labs (especially stories and podcasts) and discussion to our mobile devices!
- Bio on app
Being able to read another players's bio on mobile devices would be nice :)
- A general ranking to all clubs
In my opinion, It would be nice to have some competition between the clubs. People would work together to make their club on the top of the world ranking!
- A way to have favorite discussions
I believe that separing favorite and followed discussions would be useful. Some discussions I don't want to follow, I just want it to read again whenever I need it and don't want to receive messages when someone comment on it (like this one https://www.duolingo.com/comment/2591660, I needed it to write this post haha).
- More languages/Improve courses
The last one, well, everybody asks it haha! Duolingo is getting bigger and bigger and it's awesome! So, please, add more languages!! [I know that there's a post teaching how we can suggest more languages, that's why I didn't write any languages to be added. I wrote this suggestion because I think this is one that can't be out of my list :)] Also, there are some courses, like Japanese one, that have been beta for a long time ago... it would be nice to see courses like that on Incubator Phase 3 :) And it will be nice to see the courses for English speakers avaible to another language speakers! Like the Japanese course (again haha) and Esperanto, they should be avaible in another/more languages.
I think that's it... if you have more suggetions, say it ;) And please, if you disagree with some of those ones, don't be agressive, just explain why you don't agree :D
I agree with you completely! I haven't even had the time to think about half of these suggestions (lol), but now that I have I really do understand and agree.
It would be amazing to see clubs on Duo Web, I hope Duo will consider it :)
I really want more literal translations to be shown, accepted, and explained, I know this is my third time making such a comment but it matters to me. Also, the lesson notes don't show up on mobile and can be hard to notice/understand when you can see them (but it might just be that they overwhelm my ADHD). i'd also love if there could be a culture/light news section for practice and learning more about where each language comes from. Another thing i'd like would be maybe a small lesson on some older words/phrases/etc. not so much to learn the entire old version of the language but just to add depth and show a little how things change. in Japanese there's a set of hiragana that mostly have become outdated but I think just one is still in use and seeing the outdated ones was great and interesting.
I agree!! Thanks for suggesting :) I get confused by some phrases in the Japanese course... they don't accept some correct answers and that's a bit boring... About lesson notes, I used to study on Duo only on my cell phone. Then, when I logged in the web, I saw those notes and it was amazing haha they help me a lot! I like the idea of extra lessons you said... It would be very interesting.
If features really have to be removed they should be replaced and fixed as quickly as possible. The lingot store is now entirely pointless, knowing whether or not someone has responded to a comment is now awkward and we can't contact people directly.
Also like you said more languages/improved courses. The priority should be to get more courses out faster which are still of a high quality. It's frustrating to see a language stall and die in the incubator with not a word from anyone. No one knows what is going on with Swahili or Haitian Creole and several other courses, it would be nice to have a bit more communication.
I have had sentence reports accepted from both listed contributors for Swahili within the past 48 hours.
i agree with you completely! You read my mind. Why doesn't Duo have clubs? A lot of the time i consider writing to Duo asking, but i don't. At least i know that someone agree's.
Yeah, I know that, thanks :) I wrote the last suggetion because I think it couldn't be out of a list of suggetions haha
And you can follow discussions by clicking the follow discussion button at the top.
I think I didn't express myself well... I wanted to mean that I don't want to follow some discussions because I don't want to be notified when someone comments on it. I want a way that I can "save" the discussions to read whenever I need without being emailed
I am unaware of any modality to accomplish except bookmarking them in your browser :(
You can switch off the e-mails about the followed discussions in the settings.
Yeah, I know. But I dind't find a way to not receive emails of a specific followed discussion. Is there a way to do that?
If there isn't, I do want to receive some emails, but there are some discussions that I don't. There are some discussions that I just want to "save" to read again whenever I want.
Do you understand?
Your English is fine, although there are a few typos. Early on you wrote suggetions instead of suggestions, and later separing instead of separating.
Well done :)
Probably just re-reading the post would have been enough to catch them (although, I find that it helps to leave it sit for a while first).
Those small mistakes are ones that native speakers could easily have made too.
