Offline lessons don't always count

Hi, just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced this. .. I sometimes go to a farm on weekends or holidays, where Internet connection is a problem. On the last 2 occasions, I did have a connection problem, but made sure to still do a lesson offline. When my connection is restored (back in the city), my streak freeze was used. By now, I have so many lingots that buying a new streak freeze is not a problem. However, should this happen 2 days in a row, I would lose my streak. ... Has anyone else experienced this?

You will only keep your streak if you synchronize your device with Duolingo's servers before midnight.

Thanks, but then what is the use of Duolingo Plus and the ability to do offline lessons?

You can use the off-line lessons of Duolingo, if you have no (reliable) Wifi or LTE/4G with an internet bundle

  • during travelling "home - work/school - home"
  • during travelling by airplane or ferry
  • during a vacation in a rural area. You will lose your streak if you cannot synchronyze with Duolingo's servers before midnight, but you can continue your lessons for a few weeks.

Personally, I prefer "LTE/4G with an internet bundle" during travelling "home - work - home" and in a vacation. Because this is for me a more reliable solution for keeping my streak.
