Icelandic from Zero: Lesson #2
previous lesson: lesson #1, The Alphabet
Hello everyone! Due to the wonderful amount of support I received yesterday, I will be continuing mz Icelandic course.
Today, we are gonna learn about personal pronouns (as subjects)! As each word is introduced, there will be a link to a native speaker audio-pronunciation.
Hann =He (hear)
Þið =You all (hear)
Þær =They♀ (hear)
Þau=They no gender (hear)
Note: Þeir can ONLY be used to describe groups purely masculine, and Þær can ONLY be used to describe groups purely feminine.
However, Þau may be used to describe mixed groups of both genders.
Also in this lesson you have encountered a strange Icelandic diphthong; and that is au. It sounds like "ey". Therefore, the word Þau actually sounds almost like 'they' in English!
