"kein" is used to say that something isn't there:

"Ich sehe kein Känguru." (I see no kanguru), "Ich habe kein Geschenk." (I have no gift) "Es gibt hier keine Tiere" (There are no animals here)

"nicht" ist used to make a Verb negativ:

"Ich sehe das Känguru nicht." (I don't see the kanguru), "I habe das Geschenk nicht." (I don't have the gift) "Ich kann es nicht" (I can't do it)

Do you get it now? :)

Correct :) Except for the first example sentence for "nicht". It should be "Ich sehe das Känguru nicht."

You're right, thanks for pointing it out :)

"Da ist ein Kaenguru! Ich sehe kein Kaenguru." This is also correct, meaning that it is not there. Ich sehe das Kaenguru nicht means it may be there but I cannot see it.

But I can use like this? "Ich habe keinen Känguru." "I don't have a Kanguru."

There is one thing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ to my mind, when I read your answer: The song "Hearts Of Iron" by swedish Metalband 'Sabaton'.

Wrong lyrics: "Nicht ein Schlacht, ein Rettungsaktion!" Correct: "Keine Schlacht, eine Rettungsaktion".

And yes, the wrong lyrics are on the selling record ;-) :-D

I often use them like kein = nicht ein (Works most of the time, but not the whole truth)

In a nutshell: kein means "not a" before a noun, with or without preceding adjectives.

Das ist kein Fisch.
Das ist kein blauer Fisch.

nicht is used to modify a verb, i.e., when you point out that you do not do something or cannot do something.

Ich schwimme nicht. Ich kann nicht schwimmen.
