Autocompleting "Translate this sentence"

[deactivated user]

Sometimes when I use Duolingo on my android phone, when it asks me to translate the sentence, it will autocomplete some of the sentence or the entire sentence. I thought this was normal because it will autocomplete what I know, but now I realize when I rotate my phone to landscape, it will autocomplete the sentence. Can someone explain what is happening?

You have to switch off "Autocompletion" in the "Keyboard App" of your phone.

It's not a keyboard thing, unfortunately.

The Duolingo app will complete the tile exercises for you if it doesn't find any place on the screen to fit the tiles other than what's already reserved for the answer. This renders the tile exercises pretty useless for longer sentences on lower-resolution phones.

I can't say for sure, but given that the tile exercises are presented in the same way across the mobile platforms, I'd imagine so. It depends on your screen resolution and the sentence length.

The image below is an example from this recent Reddit thread. Note that not only were the tiles pre-filled, but they're fit together in one big tile because the app couldn't find space for, well, the spaces.
