French Verbs

Hi! I have been learning french verbs Dr. and Mrs Vandertramp, but I've been having troubles memorizing them. I was wondering if anyone that knows them has any tricks to remember them. Thanks!

Turn it into a song!

It's very common for teachers of French to make their students write songs to help memorize être verbs. Search for "vandertramp song" videos on YouTube. There are SO many. Here's a particularly cringy one, inspired by a Disney movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV3Gtz0SRd0

Please move your post to the French forum. You don't have to delete it, just edit its location.

Thanks, I made a picture with a bunch of people and each person represents a verb, but it still didn't really work well so I'll try your tip.

This video explains etre verbs in the passe compose in a different way to the usual 'generally verbs of movement', which I better understand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YBDyYp46vM - describing them as intransitive verbs that don't have a direct object and explaining why you cant use them with one (with examples) See from about 3 minutes into the video.

This was a great explanation, I never heard them explained liked that before...thanks, it makes so much more sense now!

Many words in French and English are derived from the same Latin origin. Find a closely related word in English to help you remember. e.g. Pouvoir / Can is related to Power -- if you have Power then you Can. Hope this help!

Good tip, I'll try that too.

IMHO Memrise is the best place to learn verb conjugation:
