I wrote "I listen to the music" but was not accepted :) I am not aware of any other way that one could translate "I listen to the music" and not say "(저는) 음악을 들어요" I think both answers should be accepted (with and without "the")

Is it wrong to say "I hear music"?

There is a big difference between listen and hear; listen is an active process while hear is not necessarily so. Unfortunately, at least in modern day United States, most people do not actually listen; most people are too busy trying to think what they are going to say next to actually listen and understand what they hear.
