Should this sentence be subjunctive?

Today, I was trying to say: “Maybe it has become worse there, also.”

I said: « Peut-être qu’il soit devenu pire là, aussi. »

I checked with Google Translate, and it said: « peut-être qu'il est devenu pire là aussi. »

Could somebody tell me which one is correct? It would seem that the prerequisites for the subjunctive are there (indefinite outcome, and use of “que”).

I seem to remember that "peut-être" is followed by indicative, but I'm not really sure.

According to this discussion at WordReference, it should be indicative:

This site also states that "peut-être que" doesn't require the subjunctive.

If you said, "I think it may have become worse there, also.", then you would use subjunctive. Then it would be how you feel, but "maybe" by itself is not necessarily subjunctive. It is possible that this is true or not which is indicative.

Usually, "peut-être que" does not prompt the subjunctive
