preview

This is just a basic preview at the moment, BUT for me personally, it is really useful!

I'm interested, but when I looked into adding it, the Chrome Store said the app could 'read and change all of [my] data on the websites [I] visit'. What does that mean?

It means that it can add new features to websites (like a word list on Duolingo, for example).

It means I'm putting loads of hard work, about 5 hours a day on a Chinese add-on but secretly its for so I can steal your credit card details and log into your facebook and talk your friends from secondary school who you haven't spoken to for 10 years.

Seriously, duolingo.com doesn't just use duolingo.com they host things on various CDNs, and for the upcoming Cantonese functionality I need to intercept those requests like a popup blocker and redirect them to my Cantonese audio.

But to be honest comments like yours make me think. What's the point. No one appreciates what I'm doing. I've spend literally 100s of hours writing definitions for over 500 characters so far, let alone the development.

So if you don't want it, don't download it and concentrate on Irish I'm sure that will be really useful.

I think the guy was literally just clarifying what that meant, no harm intended. Everyone appreciates all the work you're doing especially since Chinese is in Beta and lowkey isn't that well put together yet. But if you go looking for hate in places where it's not there you're sure to find it.

Robin, that wasn't supposed to be some sort of attack. It was literally a question about what that sentence means. What kind of data can/does the app read, store and change?

Your add-on might not fall into this category, but there are plenty of data-mining apps and extensions out there that store (and apparently can change?) data entered, and I simply want to know what I'm putting on my computer and browser before I put it there.

And if it's appreciation you want, I strongly suggest being sincere. You never did give a genuine response to my question. Is your extension using data I provide to re-route and mask my IP address like some VPN extensions do? Is your app able to modify auto-fill information in online forms?

Does it separate the words into their catagories? Because if so, that's really cool! Will definitely be using Google Chrome for Duo for now on.
