Lugter vs Dufter

Can any one please explain the difference between "lugter" and "dufter" ? From what I gathered, "dufter" means "it smells", as in "it smells good", but what about "lugter" then? Does it have a different connotation?

you got it.

"Lugter" can be neutral, positive or negative,

"dufter" always means it smells good.

lugt = smell.

duft = scent or fragrance
