Proč ne bratranice?

The female version of bratranec is sestřenice, just like the female version of bratr is sestra.

Oh, bratranice does exist... I have never heard this word! It must be very archaic. Apparently it is a brother's daughter - today we say "neteř".

Ok, now I see it also used to denote the cousin that is a daughter of a father's brother. It is very, very archaic. Do not use it if you wish to be understood.
