Does anyone know what că adds here? I got it right without it.


It's very similar to say that in English. Sometimes it is needed, sometimes not.

I cannot explain why sometimes we would add this here, it mostly depends on context. What comes to my mind is that you would use it like here if someone has cast some doubt on whether you eat meat or not, so you say it like this to empathize the fact that you do.

Don't bother much with it.


For French people the nuance is the same: Tu es sûr de vouloir manger de la viande ? - Bien sûr, je mange de la viande. Tu ne vas quand même pas manger de la viande ? - Bien sûr QUE je mange de la viande! The second affirmation is to insist because in the context, someone doubt about.
