Can you say/write 'Tu e băiat' instead of 'tu ești băiat'?

Shortening 'este' to 'e' is used in Duolingo when referring to the third person e.g. 'el e băiat' (also dropping the indefinite article i should mention), or for things rather than people, but it is not demonstrated that it can be used for the second person. Can it?

no it cannot be used but for the third person

eu sunt (a regional variant is -îs-)

tu ești

el / ea e(ste)

noi suntem

voi sunteți

ei sunt (same regional variant -îs- )

not even in slang :D

what do you mean by -îs-?

'îs' is a variant of 'sunt' I think, or 'îs' is the same as 'sunt' to make it is unambiguous as possible.

the pronoun can be missing, it is not mandatory for all persons, like in Italian, Portuguese and Spanish
