German Tree completed!

German Tree completed! Thanks Duo!

It took me about 13 months from a starting point of almost a zero knowledge base in the language and now I'm currently level 23. Looks like I averaged about 65 points per day and studied over 2500 words. I intend to keep practicing so I don't lose all this knowledge! I know that I'm not solid with some words especially with the most recent ones completed. I also know that I need grammar practice which is difficult to learn and to expand my knowledge using the Duo Stories, YouTube videos or other sources of practice material. Eventually, I will seek out other speakers to practice verbally with in order to hone my skills.

As an native English speaker, it is fun to learn about the similarities and some of the differences between English and German. Despite the initial difficulty, it's really a fun language and should be pushed more here in the US.

I have always wanted to really learn another language. Twenty years ago, I had four years of Spanish in high school and earned an A or B each year but in that time I didn't have much verbal practice since there is only one teacher and there were no other speakers available to me to practice with. Honestly, I really was never that interested in Spanish and I feel that it is pushed too much here in the US over other languages. I feel that I've learned more German from Duo in one year than the four years of the Spanish that I had in school.

Keep up the good work Duo!

Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Stufe 23 in 13 Monaten -- das ist eine tolle Leistung. Du kannst richtig stolz auf Dich sein.

Ja, ich finde die Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen Englisch und Deutsch auch immer wieder faszinierend. Ist der Gedanke nicht wunderbar, dass irgendwann, vor langer, langer Zeit, einige unserer Vorfahren an einem Feuer gesessen haben könnten und eine Sprache sprachen? ...

Ich wünsche Dir viel Freude beim weiteren Lernen. :-)
