le saviez-vous

"le saviez vous" - is it possible to say "saviez-vous cela" instead? If not, why? If yes, then is there any difference in meaning (nuance)?

I don't think I have ever seen "Saviez-vous cela" used.

Example:

Pierre had his driving licence removed yesterday. Did you know?
Pierre s'est fait retirer son permis hier. Le saviez-vous ?

OR, with the information provided in a single sentence:

Did you know that Pierre had his licence removed yesterday?
Saviez-vous que Pierre s'est fait retirer son permis hier ?
