Different ways to spell German colors??!!

Why do some sentences in German have the color spelling different? Example: rotes, roter, rot. Whenever I strengthen my Colors, I always get them wrong due to the spelling differences, and I have NO IDEA why they spell them different. I'm extremely confused.

rotes, roter, rot are inflected forms of the adjective red.

Nearly all nouns and adjectives get inflected.

It depends on how the adjective is used, if it's used as an attribute, adverb or predicate. Attributes are declined according to some rules (gender, number, case, articles before, rote roter rotem roten....), adverbs and predicates are not declined (rot).
