Wollen wir gehen?

So I heard a person in a movie say "Wollen wir gehen?" I think they wanted to say "Shall we go?" but how come it wasn't "Sollen wir gehen?" or is it more preferable to use the verb wollen here?

Both expressions are ok in this context, they have a slightly different meaning:

Sollen wir gehen? - Shall we go?

Wollen wir gehen? - Do we want to go? (but also used in the sense of Shall we go?)

Either way expresses the wish to leave.
