le petit prince is good

Hmm...never heard of it...btw thx

Le Ballon Rouge and Le Papillon are really good.

Well, this is a movie in French . . . L'argent de poche (Small Change, in English), directed by François Truffaut was really enjoyable, if kind of preachy at the end.

If you like comedy, try 'Intouchables', based on a true story. It has been voted the second biggest box office hit in France, coming second to 'Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis', also a comedy. Both are in the French language, but easy to understand. They also have English sub-titles.

The 2014 La belle et la bete (Beauty and the beast) is a million times better than the Disney one, and from what I read about the original French story it's one of the most accurate movie adaptations. Plus the dresses!! I nearly died! Vincent Cassell is La bete and Lea Seydoux is Belle.

Also Le diner de cons (The diner of idiots) is really good to, I hated Diner for shmucks, I found it really mean, but le diner de cons is hilarious and there's no ill will to the 'idiots'. 1998 Thierry Lhermitte and Jacques Villeret.

If you love comedy then definitely Les visiteurs 1 2 (The visitors). Think Dumb and dumber. Jean Reno and Christian Clavier are the leads, the first is from 1993.

Audrey Tautou also did Coco avant Chanel (Coco before Chanel) in 2009 which was pretty good. It really does only show her life up until she focused her life on fashion, once it gets to there it just goes in fast-motion through her label growth to her becoming a top designer. It was still good though and I enjoyed it.

Sarah's Key (Elle s'appelait Sarah) from 2010 was in the English section of my local rental store, and Kristin Scott Thomas is the lead. WARNING it is quiet sad, I definitely suggest reading about it first. It's about a terrible incident involving 2 children during the Nazi occupation of France, thankfully it's fiction. It's very moving though.

Another emotional one is Incendies also from 2010 with Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin and Maxim Gaudette as brother and sister who are fulfilling the mothers last wish. WARNING the revelation at the end of the movie is disturbing emotionally. The movie, I felt, is very really though, the things that happen in war torn lands could all to easily lead to the events of this movie, and the way the mother dealt with it, I think, was very strong, both for her and her children.

I hope you like some of these, as you can probably tell I quite like my French movies. Would love to hear what you think about any that you do watch.
