What is the point of Lingots as there is very little you can do with them?

Once you have too many and ran out of things to buy you can use them a gratification tokens for good threads and good comments.

Yeah, first week or so they're kind of fun, but a couple weeks in and you've got more than there are things to spend them on.

Shame they don't have a physical form so you can swim in the lingots like Scrooge McDuck in his gold coins.

yes that would be nice! you could email duolingo and tell them to ship the lingots you earned to you, and then swim in them : )

You can buy a streak freeze, and buy cool clothes for Duo. And you can give them away, trade them with your friends...

I use mine for the streak freeze and to send as endorsement and encouragement to good comments.

I also think the concept of gamification is somehow broken/unfinished in Duolingo.
It is strange there is no way to spend more than 200-300 lingots if they encourage us to see adds to get more of them.
