Why is there 去 in 我想去西班牙旅游?

  1. Why is there 去 in 我想去西班牙旅游? Shouldn’t 旅游 just be enough as a verb?

  2. What is the Chinese phrase for 'excuse me' if you are going to the toilet and someone is blocking your way to it?

  3. 英文菜单=英语菜单?

  4. If 请便宜一点儿 means "Please make it cheaper,", does 'cheaper' then mean 便宜一点儿? If it doesn't, then what is the word for 'cheaper'?

Thanks

  1. 去 is like saying what you are actually doing and must be said after 想. I want to Spain doesn't make sense. I want to GO to Spain makes sense. On top of that, 旅游 is stating the purpose of you going there... that is, to travel/ go on a tour there.

  2. 请您让一让 (Please let me through).

  3. Not sure, but I'm sure they'll know what you mean either way

  4. 请再便宜一点

I'm not a native speaker myself but I might be able to answer at least some of your questions.

  1. 对不起 duìbuqî

  2. 文 refers more to the written language, 语 to the spoken language.

  3. 便宜 means "cheap" and 一点儿 means "a little bit".

I hope that someone with more knowledge of the language will also provide an answer.

About "excuse me", in China, it can be translated into "打扰一下" when you need someone's help or “请让一下” in the case that someone is blocking your way. And "对不起" is often translated into “sorry”.

  1. I think the "去" here functions like "to (go to)", otherwise you'd have "I think Spain".

  1. 不好意思,借過一下 (the most common saying in Taiwan)
  2. most of the time they are the same. ex. 日文/日語;韓文/韓語, but in some situation we could only use like this 中文/國(国)語。
  3. cheap(便宜) + a little bit(一点ㄦ) =cheaper
