Klingon vs Czech
Will Klingon make it to android before Czech. That's the question on everyones lips.
Well not literally everyone however if that’s what happens I’ll be somewhat disappointed because I’m focusing on Czech more than Klingon overall.
i can actually remember only one person saying that it would come out this month. if memory serves, you always based that expectation on the number of months romanian took to get through beta. those two courses have very little to do with each other, and the beta duration match would be possible but coincidental.
as far as we the czech team know, our course was not "meant" to come out this month. there is nobody to mean to have it come out. i will make a separate post explaining what little we do know. who knows, it might help jolt the system into some action.
being in beta has nothing to do with the course not being on the app, like Hungarian has been on the app for ages and it still is in beta
and for example Swahili was released on the app the day after it became available on the web
also Korean, Japanese, Chinese were released on the app first
You seem to suggest you know more then us about app releases. You even suggested ot was meant to be relesed this month. I have no idea where you got that from Do you have some insider info or what?
We have NO idea when it will be released and we have NO way how to influence that. If you know anything more, you know more than the contributors creating this course.
well that's what I said, it only depends on when duolingo decides to make it available, it does not depend on contributors or anything else like being in beta or not
First, I have no idea when Czech will be released and I have no way to influence that. Below is my personal view, not a view of any other contributor.
Well, Klingon is an artificial language (I don't know any of it), it is easy to create some rules which you can follow (Even if they are complicated! - Like Latin, complicated, but very regular. But for Klingon I don't know whther they allow the intentionally ungrammatical layers of the language or not.) and when something is unclear you just take the rule and you know immediately if something is or is not clear.
Here we often have to follow are guts to see what still is correct and what is not. The students don't have these feeling developed so well yet and hence we receive a large number of reports of translations that "should have been accepted.". These reports are often wrong, but sometimes correct.
Also there are so many possible translations in Czech that it is easy to miss one. And then we have reports we have to deal with.
So in the end I think it is quite normal that an artificial language is released sooner than a complex natural language.
please keep in mind that the timing of the mobile release is all about duo's priorities and preferences. if they feel an early mobile release of klingon is to their advantage, an early mobile release they will make. none on the czech team are losing sleep over it. nobody else should be either.
yeah, like I remember when Romanian was released we had to wait 6 months but Swahili was released a couple of months later and it was on the app the next day
