I love doing the German tree on Duolingo. I lived in Germany for five years and my wonderful neighbors taught me many great phrases. Unfortunately, I never learned proper grammar.

I'm having a problem with German articles and pronouns. I can understand the duo questions but need help sorting out all of the grammatical aspects of the language. Should I start over and try to master those skills or continue moving through the tree?

My goal is to read "Der Spiegel" headlines by year end. I also hope to visit old friends someday.

Thanks.

I know how it feels when it's just too much. It happened to me during my work on the French tree. I just stopped somewhere in the middle of the tree and just kept redoing the older lessons. I kept doing it for few months then finished the tree and then I made it all golden again. It helped me, I know that if I just kept going it wouldn't be a good idea and I wouldn't learn anything. My French knowledge is still very poor but with more and more repetitions it's slowly coming together.

I would recommend this page for grammar reference: http://germanforenglishspeakers.com/ and Deutsche Welle page has tons of cool courses: http://www.dw.com/en/learn-german/s-2469
